Doctrinal Beliefs
Confession of Faith
We believe that God is the eternal, omnipotent, and triune Being; Father, Son, and Holy Ghost; that this triune God created the Heavens and the earth and all that in them is, visible and invisible; that He sustains, protects, and governs these with gracious regard for the welfare of man to the glory of His name. (Gen. 1:1-27; Deut. 6:4; Matt. 3:16-17; Heb. 11:3; 1 Jo. 5:6-8)
We believe that God, the Father, through the gift of His only begotten Son, provided redemption for man lost through the fall of Adam; that Christ, the Son was conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary; that He was crucified, died and was buried; that He rose again, ascended to the Father; and that He became the Savior of the world through the merits of His atoning blood. (Matt. 1:18-25; Matt. 3:16-17)
We believe that the Holy Ghost, reproves the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and that He seals, empowers, comforts and guides the believer. (Matt. 28:19; Jo. 14:16-17, 26; Jo. 15:26; 2 Cor. 13:14)
We believe that the Holy Bible, the Old and the New Testaments, is the the inspired Word of God, and that it is the final authority for faith and practice. (2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:21)
We believe that the work of Calvary is made effective to the believer through justification (forgiveness of committed sin), and sanctification (heart cleansing and empowerment); and that the work of grace thus wrought in the heart will effect a transformation of life and practice. (Lev. 11:44-45; Psa. 130:4; Jer. 36:3; Luke 1:73-75; Jo. 17:17; Acts 13:38-39; Rom. 5:1; 1 Thess. 5:23-24; Heb. 10:14-15; 1 Jo. 3:7; Rev. 19:8)
We believe in the general ordinances, namely believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Supper, are enjoined in the Word of God and should be observed in church life and practice. (Matt. 3:13-17; Matt. 28:18-20; Luke 22:19-20; Acts 2:38-39; Rom. 6:3-5; 1 Cor. 11:23-29)
We believe that the Scripture teaches that Christians should not be conformed to this world; that they should demonstrate the spirit of Christian love; that, subject to a prior loyalty to the Word of God, it is their duty to be obedient to the government under which they live; and that through their testimony and conduct they should be constant and effective witnesses for their Lord. (John 15:16; John 17:14-18; Rom. 12:1-2; Rom. 13:1-7; 1 Jo. 2:15-17)
We believe that the second coming of Christ is imminent; that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both the just and the unjust; that life eternal is the gift of the righteous, but that everlasting punishment is reserved for the wicked. (Psa. 9:17; Matt. 25:46; John 5:28-29; John 14:1-3; Rom 14:10; 1 Cor. 15:10; Rev. 20:12-13; 21:8)
We believe that the supreme duty and mission of the Church during this dispensation is world-wide evangelization in obedience to the Great Commission of Jesus Christ our Lord. (Matt. 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 1:8)
Statement on Marriage, Gender and Sexuality
We believe that God wonderfully and immutable creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. Rejection of one’s biological sex is rejection of the image of God within that person. (Gen. 1:26-27)
We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen. 2:18-25) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Cor. 6:18; 1 Cor. 7:2-5; Heb. 13:4)
We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between one man and one woman.
We believe that the lifestyles of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one’s gender by surgery or appearance. (Gen. 2:24; Gen. 19:5, 13; Gen. 26:8-9; Lev. 18:1-30; Rom. 1:26-29; 1 Cor. 5:1; 1 Thess. 4:1-8; Heb. 13:4)
We believe that the only Scriptural marriage is the joining of one man and one woman. (Gen. 2:24; Rom. 7:2; 1 Cor. 7:10; Eph. 5:22-23)
We shall continue to show love and compassion to all who are enslaved in sin’s degradation, proclaiming full deliverance through the precious blood of Christ, knowing “that they which do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.” (Lev. 18:22; Lev. 20:13; Rom. 1:24-28; 1 Cor. 6:9-10; Gal. 5:1-21)
We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of the Lebanon God’s Missionary Church as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the Lebanon God’s Missionary Church members and community, it is imperative that all persons employed by Lebanon God’s Missionary Church in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality. This agreement will be reviewed and signed annually at the May Membership/Business meeting. (Matt. 5:16; Phil. 2:14-16; 1 Thess. 5:22)
If any of the aforementioned persons or office holders practices or supports these lifestyles they forfeit their right to any office or church membership in our conference. Practicing these lifestyles shall constitute removal of membership or office.
Marriage Policy
Because God has ordained marriage and defined it as the covenant relationship between a man, a woman and Himself, the Lebanon God’s Missionary Church will only recognize marriages between a biological man and a biological woman. Further, the pastors and staff of the Lebanon God’s Missionary Church shall only participate in weddings and solemnize marriages between one man and one woman. Finally, the facilities and property of the Lebanon God’s Missionary Church shall only host weddings between one man and one woman.
How to have a personal relationship with God:
Acknowledge you are a sinner and need salvation. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Rom. 3:23)
Understand that the consequence of your sin is death. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Rom. 6:23)
Confess all your sins to God. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 Jo. 1:9)
Believe that Jesus died to save you from your sins. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (Jo. 3:16) “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures.” (1 Cor. 15:3)
Experience the new birth through faith in Christ. “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Rom. 10:9)
